It’s Almost Time for the 9th Annual Art on the Avenue!
The Art on the Avenue Festival will be held on Saturday, May 1 from 10 AM until 4 PM on the SALT Block lawn, located just behind the Hickory Museum of Art. Art on the Avenue is one of the most popular events in Hickory each year, and it is a great time for families and art lovers. The event is free and has something for people of all ages to enjoy.
The kids will be able to take part in the arts and crafts provided at the show, and they will be able to see a variety of different animals. Visitors will be able to find food booths throughout the area, and they will be entertained by live music.
For this year’s festivities, Carmen Eckard will emcee the event from 10 AM until noon. The popular emcee will also be on hand to tell stories and to organize entertaining youth performances. For the music lovers in the crowd, attendees will be able to enjoy the funk rock instrumental group DANG!, who will be performing throughout the afternoon.
Previous years have had attendance of more than 2000 visitors and 30 area artists. This year, the event should be even larger. The same weekend, visitors will be able to experience Spring Fest, held at Union Square. This gives people even more things to see and do when they are in Hickory on May 1, and everyone in the family will find plenty of fun!
If you can’t make it down to the festival, you can always visit the Hickory Museum of Art, which is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 AM to 4 Pm and on Sunday from 1 PM to 4 PM. Admission to the museum is always free!
